ABC Mouse is an online curriculum preparation for young children entering Kindergarten in the near future. It targets curriculum for Preschool children, Pre-K children, and children in the Kindergarten stage if needed. It has many different activities that children began when they are in Preschool. Each activity is targeted toward that child and as they progress, the level of difficulty for each activity progresses as well. ABC Mouse provides 450 lessons for students in six different levels. The website provides lessons in mainly reading and math. Children are able to learn through games, songs, art, and other activities that are fun and engaging. Teachers can use this website as support in the classroom. They can have children do activities that coincide with their lessons so that children have a hands-on approach to what is being taught. I view ABC Mouse as a supplemental tool for learning rather than it being the main way to learn the material and teachers should use it as such. Also, parents can use this website to introduce the new concepts to their children before the teacher gives a lesson or even before they start school. There are two major limitations of ABC Mouse and they are: that it does not cover grade school material, and that not everyone may have access to the internet on a computer or tablet. Getting started with ABC Mouse is easy. An account can be purchased online at either $7.95 per month or $79 a year. The great thing about ABC Mouse that can really benefit teachers in the financial aspect is that up to 40 students can be added onto a public classroom account. The account is linked to the district and your superintendent.
